The arbors depicted in
drawings below are based on the all-plastic arbor shown here to the right.
They are constructed from laminated solid polyethylene recycled plastic
made into arches and arched/spiral rafter-posts.
The radial lath canopy is constructed from
2x2's extending from the circular rim joist or arch to the center
connecting ring. These radial lath pieces are shown for just one or a few
segments but they apply to all segments.
These arbors are large,
ranging from 28 to 40 feet in diameter and between 13 and 16 ft in height.
They are beyond any use in residential settings.
So I'm directing my future
envelope-pushing development of designer arbors to monumentals. These types
of arbors are distinctive and call attention to
themselves.
I will personally prefabricate
the arbor off-site and assemble and erect it on-site. I'm looking for people who are
willing to spearhead the construction of such a monumental arbor in their own
community. I will help that person or group raise the money and get the
approval of the city council. I will personally make a presentation to the
Arts Committee and the City Council.
The cost would depend upon the
demands that the city council would place upon the project. Mr. Deck
will post a bond with the city guaranteeing the satisfactory completion of
the structure. This offer is extended to any community in the United
States or Canada. The population of the city must be sufficient to
undertake and support such a project.

Below is a monumental structure appropriate
for a Christian Church setting. There are many possibilities with this
design from lighting to materials.

Just imagine what this would look like with 6
ground-level spotlights projecting white light upward from inside the
triangular hands in prayer. Then add two flood lights in front of each
hands in prayer. Who would not be impressed with such a striking symbolic
structure?

Below was my submission for the design of the
World Trade Center Memorial Monument. It was submitted to Mayor
Giuliani, the mayor of New York City at the time, on 12/23/01 immediately
after the collapse of the twin towers. Then Bloomberg came into office
shortly thereafter.

My design never even received an
acknowledgement of its receipt from either mayoral office; not a "thank
you", not even a " but we couldn't possibly give a designer from way
out there in California any recognition whatsoever given all our
prestigious architectural firms right here in New York City". That's to be
expected from New York City officials. Since then, anyone from New
York or New Jersey along the Hudson river or Long Island contacting me has
been extended the same courtesy. And you can expect that to continue until
my submission has been acknowledged by the New York City office of the
mayor.
