Arches abound under an octagonal crown in this very French rendition of a gazebo.

Strung between post pairs around the perimeter is an arched balustered  valance. This valance is recessed below a crown-molded fascia.

This 2x12 facia frames-in a canopy of 2 x 2 hollow PVC square skip-lath tubing.

The tubing butt-ends are all hidden behind the crown molding and rest atop the fascia frame.

The sun-filtering canopies provide just the right reduction in brightness to render those aggregate concrete patios beneath them habitable in the mid afternoon sun.  At night, ground-based spot lights make these gazebos a showcase of elegance.

Mini-corbels provide the anchor points for the valance at each post. Higher in the interior, larger corbels, where beam meets post, provide the necessary lateral bracing in both directions. The theme is expressed in both elongated and regular octagonal structures above and the truncated polygonal porch here to the left.
