Projects The Cruz Project
|
Click on small pictures for larger views. This is both a deck and an arbor project set in a tight corner of a 2-story house in Fremont. The domination of the two 26-foot-high stucco walls was diminished by an arbor topping out at mid-height and set diagonally between both walls. The property-line runs a few feet away from the two
outer corners of the walls so the deck was designed to conform to the tight
area imposed by the two walls and the nearby The deck planking and seating were built from solid-plastic PrimoPlank and the arbor's canopy was constructed from white hollow 3x3 PVC tubing, making this a predominantly plastic structure. Of particular note here are the arched kneebraces pointing north, south, east and west atop the main arbor posts and how their extension to the different beam heights was handled. There are several other artistic touches that qualify this structure as a designer project.
