Step up and Step In

Here is an all-plastic-surface deck built with our PrimoPlank. The railings and step risers are white PrimoPlank. The deck planking is cedar-toned PrimoPlank.

This is a multilevel spa deck with a number of special features. It has built-in lighting on the step risers and the railing posts. The very top level has a trapezoidal access door that opens by sliding it out in a drawer-like manner on top of the next deck level. The entire deck is picture-framed by plank running all along its perimeter, capping the facia. And this perimeter planking is integrated with the bull-nose plank on each step.

Night-time lighting softly accents every step and the decking along the entire railing. Adding to this is the blue light form the internally lit spa. With all lighting below eye-level and no light coming from anywhere else, this deck scene is truly a very pleasant setting, in or out of the spa, for looking at the stars!

Postscript: This deck was the second all-plastic deck that I built; that was back in the Spring of  2000. Five years later I took some out-of-town customers over to see it and I was just amazed to see that the deck had not deteriorated one bit. The white railing was still a brilliant white; it had not yellowed one bit. The cedar-colored planking hadn't faded one bit either; it was still the same color as you see it here. I thanked the owners for keeping the deck in such good condition. They replied that they only clean it occasionally and hadn't cleaned it for over a month. Not only were the customers impressed, I was too!
