New Projects 2008 Olea Project (Prunedale CA)
This project is both a double deck and a double arbor structure. One deck is two steps higher than the other and connected to it by an 11ft.-wide double step. They are separated at the outer section by a three-tiered 5ft. high 4ft. diameter decorative fountain (not shown in elevation drawings). This will be the first deck to sport our turned solid-plastic 3.5-inch diameter balusters which function as posts too. They will be set at 30-inch spacing with DecKorator's 1 x 1/4-inch black powder-coated aluminum baroque balusters set at 4-inch spacing in between them. All the rails and caps will be made from white solid-plastic 2x4s and 2x6s respectively. Then at the extreme corners will be our new numerically-controlled carved all-plastic newels sporting beautiful opal glass post-lamps. Matching newels will also adorn the bases of all 6 arbor posts. The arbor canopies will be white hollow PVC plastic 5x5 and 3x3 lath for easy maintenance and durability. The gabled arbor will sport a large semi-circular arch to match the transit window above the rear door. Both arbors will have their newel bases illuminated with 50-watt 12v halogen swivel spot lights mounted on the beams above. On the left side of the deck will be a 3-panel all-PVC-plastic 6ft. high decorator fence topped with specially fabricated 1¼-inch tight-spaced latticework. It will be tan with white latticework. There will be a 3ft wide gate between the house and first fence panel. The outermost fence panel will be connected to the deck's railing. As with all the decks we build, this one will be planked with solid plastic 2x6 PrimoPlank decking with a 2x8 rim plank following all the contours beneath the designer railings. The planking will be a weathered-wood color. The facia trim will be solid-plastic as well, of color white. When completed in September, this promises to be one of our most striking designer projects yet.
