This arbor design is a 2/3rd's-circle canopy of 4x6 floating rafters sloped upward 16* toward the open center. They are supported one foot in from their lower ends by a 6x12 circular beam of 9 ft radius with carved ends. The upper ends are supported by a 2-inch powder-coated metal pipe piercing them 22 inches from their carved ends. And all of this is supported by four 7-ft fluted Roman columns. The sloped canopy sports a crystal candelabra lamp hung by 3 hefty brass chains at 120º intervals. Dimensions: Total height - 9' 9" Diameter - 20'
Columns are 1-inch thick walled, 12-inch diameter cast concrete sleeves over 8x8 pressure-treated posts cemented 48 inches below ground. Rafters are select #1 Douglas Fir 4x6's resawn and painted 3 times. Circular beam is a continuous 8-course of horizontally laminated kiln-dried Douglas Fir 2x's painted 3 times.
