Gables Galore

Return to Design Orphanage

This is both an arbor and deck project. Both are engineered to be "minimum maintenance". The deck is optional and is priced separately below.

The arbor is a derivative work of the Rodrigues project that is adapted here to a straight-in connection with the house and centered beneath a steep gable. The gable of the arbor is sloped to conform to the 45° roof-line of the house. The large opening in the arbor's gable imposed by this architectural change introduces an unobstructed view of the  wall behind it, so a semi-circular arch is used to fill the gap
and provide overall character to the structure.

Privacy screens are incorporated into the design between the perimeter columns on the exposed side (left). The opposite side (right) may have stand-alone columns or posts depending whether that side is exposed or tied into an L-shaped corner.

The gable-arch sports a crystal candelabra lamp with a short tether.
