Perichute I
Behaving as if it were radially outstretched by a steady updraft, this
open-frontal structure gives the appearance of touching down gently on
terra-firma; hence the name: "Perichute".

Crafted from wood are the round beams and contoured rafters. Both the
straight radial rafters and the grated cap are fabricated from true 2 x
4's. The grated cap has
decreasing spacing outward from the center. The rafters are all threaded
with 5 rings of PVC plastic tubing for firm spacing and uniform alignment.
In the daytime, the bright
California sun casts the all-white canopy against a pure blue sky. At night these rafters and grated canopy, highlighted by spotlights
mounted on the inside near the terminals of the round beam, project the
under-lit white canopy onto a solid-black sky.
