The Octagonal Triad

This arbor is truly an inspiration to the free spirit ! It floats three brilliant white lattice platforms against the pure blue sky of sunny California. These are buoyed by intersecting double mammoth beams, each 24' in length. The two end platforms are stabilized by double 12' beams mimicking the crossing of the major beams. All the beams protrude beyond the platforms to give the whole structure a look as if cast to the four winds.

Note below how the canopy's shade moves
across the patio as the day unfolds.

This arbor is only half of the original design.

The initial plan was to have two opposing arbors, separated by a mere 4 feet from the end shown to the right, cover the other end of the patio. But  because a wedding was pending and the owner was abruptly notified of his being transferred out of state, expediency determined that only one of the arbors actually be built.

Mr. Deck is still looking to build the original plan and would welcome the opportunity to construct the complete 6-platform canopy design.

The Octagonal Gemini

Also known as the McNulty Project, the structure shown here, is a 2-segment derivative work of the original Viva project above . Here it makes a striking backdrop for a pool-side setting.
